View of the Manchester and Liverpool Railway
Aquatint with original hand colour, engraved by Havell after the drawing by Calvert. No publication date given, but presumed to be contemporary to 1825, the date given below the title.
Image size: 8 1/4" x 11 3/4", plus title and borders.
In generally good clean and bright condition.
The image shows two locomotives with carriages at Newton [le Willows] station midway along the Manchester/Liverpool line. Given that the line itself did not open until 1830, it may be surmised that this depiction formed part of the fund-raising prospectus for the project itself.
