One from a series of twelve discs originally contained within a circular bronzed box of medal form decorated with a portrait of Nelson on the obverse and Britannia on the reverse.
A scarce depiction of the battle fought on 2 April 1801 - a desperate slogging match between the English and 'our brothers the Danes' - and the occasion of the famous telescope incident when Nelson claimed the 'right to be blind sometimes'.
