Westminster
Drawn and etched by David Law, published circa 1880
Image size: 9 3/4" x 6 7/8" plus title and margins.
Excellent condition throughout.
An evocative moonlit scene of the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Bridge. The shadowy delineation of the humble, riverside dwellings up river, and the barges tied up for the night in the foreground, are the principle points of interest and add a note of humanity, altogether lacking from the present day reality.
For twenty years, David Law (1831-1901) worked as an engraver of maps for the Ordnance Survey. He was an accomplished watercolourist and etcher and a founder member of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers.
£45.00 mounted, unframed. Plus postage if required.
