This engraving is one of the earliest published views of the Adelphi, the elegant neo-classical terrace with vaulted wharves beneath built by the Brothers Adam between 1768-72. The Adelphi was demolished in the 1930s, just one fragment now remains in Robert Street. Benjamin Green was drawing master at Christ's Hospital and exhibited with the Society of Artists between 1765-1774.
