Bow Church
Copper engraving by W[illiam] H[enry] Toms, from William Maitland's The History of London published 1739.
Image size: 12 3/4" x 7 3/4" approx, plus title and margins.
Generally good condition throughout, minor repaired tears to margins.
An attractive view of St Mary-le-Bow in Cheapside, the street well populated by animated figures, horses and dogs in the foreground with an interesting glimpse of early eighteenth century shop window display on the left. According to tradition, a true Cockney must be born within the sound of Bow bells.
£65.00 unmounted/unframed.
