Good, used condition. Original folds as issued, ink signature of previous owner to top margin, drawing pin holes to corners, some old adhesive discolouration to extremities, not affecting image - all very much in keeping with the character of the piece.

An attractive mid-twentieth century map on Mercator's projection on which "the British Empire is coloured red." The map denotes the leading shipping routes, through lines of railways, British fuelling stations on the Admiralty list, other fuelling stations. The darker blue denotes the sea open to shipping throughout the whole year. The map also includes inset plans of the prinicpal ports of the world: Tokyo, Vancouver, the Panama Canal, Quebec, Gibraltar, the Mediterranean, the Suez Canal, Capetown, Bombay, Singapore, Sydney, Wellington, San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Liverpool, London, the Isle of Wight, Aden, Calcutta, Hong Kong, Although the map was published in 1945, the "boundaries as at 1938."
