Generally good condition throughout. Some minor spotting and staining to text. Central vertical fold, as issued, Minor closed tears to extremities.

A fascinating 'Geographical, Historical and Statistical Map of India'. The map indicates 'British Possessions or Dependencies', and identifies 'A Place remarkable for a Batte or Siege' or 'A naval engagement', these are shown by numerous, small, dated flags. The dates relating to the chronological list of 'Remarkable Battles and Sieges, Subsequent to the Invasion of Genghis Khan' in the text. The informative and eloquent text details India's situation, boundaries and extent; climate and seasons; mountains; rivers; natural history and produce; population; islands; history and British possessions. 

"The rainy season generally commences and ends with tremendous storms of thunder and lightning; but afterwards the sky becomes perfectly serene, and hardly a cloud is to be perceived during the rest of the year; the earth, however, is refreshed by copious dews in the nights during those intervals."
