Creme Eclipse tin

Vintage French tin for beeswax polish, probably dating from the 1930s.

3" diameter; 1 1/4" high

Generally good condition throughout, some peripheral wear and rust spots around the edges as expected.

A beautifully designed tin for beeswax polish. The elegant lettering elegantly arcing around the central motif: the lovely engraved face of the man in the moon, a la Fornasetti.

Creme Eclipse, manufactured between the 1880s and the 1940s, used the same design for many years, which even appeared on toy vans of the period.

During the 1930s, it was advertised with the slogan: 'The Eclipse polish eclipses all polishes.'
