Blue Plate

Blue and white printed transferware dinner plate bearing the image of Greenwich Hospital From the Ravensbourne. Impressed on base with the name 'Harvey'. No date, but circa 1830-35.

10" diameter.

Very good condition, albeit with small 'firing faults' on underside and minute chip (not recent) under rim.

This plate is part of a complete dinner service made by the Harveys of Lane End, and known to collectors as the Cities and Towns series.  The view of Greenwich is taken from a print published by Charles Hullmandel in 1822 entitled 'Part of Greenwich Hospital from the Ravensborne'. Examples marked with the impressed Harvey name do not turn up very often.
