The title of this print is a punning reference to a notorious classic of crime fiction No Orchids for Miss Blandish - "the toughest novel you ever read" - by James Hadley Chase, originally published in 1939. The novel was adapted for the stage in 1942 and for the cinema in 1948. Chase substantially rewrote and rearranged his novel for a new edition published in 1962.
Robert Brumby studied at the Royal College of Art. He was elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and was formerly Head of York School of Art and Design. His public commissions, in various media, have earned him an International reputation. He lives in North Yorkshire continuing to work on portraits and landscapes. Now he embraces digital media, allowing him to create and print all his own images.
